Wickmayer and Malisse suspended for 1 year due to inaccurate use of whereabouts

The belgian tennisplayers Xavier Malisse and Yanina Wickmayer pay a heavy price for inaccurately completing their whereabouts, the residence information that elite athletes have to keep.  Those whereabouts are introduced this year as part of the international fight against doping.  Xavier Malisse and Yanina Wickmayer who never tested possitively on the use of doping are now suspended for 1 year.  For Malisse, in the middle of a successfull comeback, this could be the end of his career.  Athletes have some responsibilites with regard to the fight against doping.  They have to adhere to the rules but a one year suspension for administrative inaccuracy is largely exaggerated.  In Flanders there is a huge protest (a.o. on Facebook).  Other athletes face the same problem.  What has been build throughout years can be destroyed in a few moments when law is implemented without any kind of common sense.  Both tennisplayers are now going to the CAS (The court for arbitration for sport).

What can we do as European citizens to support them ?

I agree with Silke. Wickmayer

I agree with Silke. Wickmayer also said that she got doping controls at her residence in the evening, even though she told the controllers that she was available in the morning. They can make their rules the way they want, but have indeed ridiculous punishments for the sporters who are innocent, why, to give an example?

That's not a very sportif example.. even Tom Boonen got more luck.. :)

I think it's ridiculous that

I think it's ridiculous that a Malisse and Wickmayer were punished in that way.Especially Wickmayer, they never gave her the right information of how to fill in her whereabouts and now she's punished for their own mistakes. It's stupid that 2 sporters who didn't take doping are punished that way.

Rules including the whereabouts should be changed, it's not good for your personal privacy and they are too strict. Sportsmen should have more time to do things without saying where they are.

Of course, when you've taken doping, one year suspension is perfectly normal.
